The Fountain of Youth

Health Corner with Trena Barishnikov

Water is the second most important nutrient for life, after oxygen. Aside from the many good effects that water has on our body, it is also widely known for its rejuvenating power for our skin. Drinking sufficient amount of water is essential in maintaining skin's elasticity and suppleness. Water acts as a body purifier by removing toxins from your body and ads a healthy glow to your skin.

Even without sweating, the body is losing water through the skin. Lack of water intake could make the skin dry and look "leathery". Although lotions and creams can aid with these concerns, they may give temporary solutions. Healing comes from within, and can be achieved by drinking plenty of water.

The fact is that nothing will improve the appearance of your skin better than drinking enough water.

The skin is designed to hold in moisture and to be elastic. When you deprive it of water, the skin sags and loses its elasticity. Removing water from grapes will turn them into raisins while dehydrated plums become prunes. So, do not be surprised if depriving your skin of water causes it to become flaky and wrinkled.

So, next time you think about getting a soda or coffee, think water. Good for your skin … good for you.

3 John 2 – “I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in good health, even as your soul prospers.”
